Parent Baptism Class

Well we attended our class on Monday and it really didn’t teach us much. The instructor explained that the Catholic church is trying to change and basically modernize itself so they are now allowing single mothers to baptize their children, etc. That was interesting to know. They also suggested we go to http://www.saints.org and check out the various saints to select his patron saint. I’m still not entirely sure what that all means but figured I would do the wikipedia look up to learn more. Gotta love those things :)

There was a horribly annoying woman in class that was taking up waaay to much time asking questions and comparing it to her country and its religion. She never did state what either were for that matter. I didn’t mind her asking questions since most of the rest of us weren’t but she kept asking inane questions that had nothing to do with the ceremony and ones that would have to be answered by the priest or deacon presiding over her particular ceremony. I mean she wanted to know if she could have some holy oil. The poor instructor was doing his best to field the questions but he finally gave in and said he would give her a # to call to have her questions answered. We then watched a 20 minute video that was about 20 years old (think boo-font 80s hair dos with shoulder pads) that did an overview of the ceremony and showed what baptizing their children meant to the participants.

After we finished we turned in Anthony’s paperwork and will now be on file for when we go to get him baptized. Cool!
