It’s drawing to the end of lovebug season (thank God!) and I have a handy tidbit to pass along! Don’t buy the overpriced (and probably bad for the environment) bug remover soap they are selling in the stores. Just go to the nearest baby isle and grab a bottle of baby shampoo. Since the bugs are protein and shampoo is designed to break down protein it works wonders!
We recently drove from our house in Bradenton down to Nokomis beach, which is about 30 min away via I-75. By the time I got home I could barely see out of my windshield the bugs were so caked on. The next morning I busted out Anthony’s shampoo and gave my car a bath. Now normally scrubbing bugs from a car takes forever but this time I was done in like 10 min!! I wiped the buggy areas down with the soap mixture and let it sit for a min or two and then went back over it and they wiped off like magic, and I was only using a washcloth. Nothin’ fancy here folks. So if you are having the same buggy fun that I am, give the baby shampoo a shot and see how it works for you

So we spent the weekend visiting with a bunch of Nick’s family, which was fun. It was one of the first social events I’ve hosted since Anthony was born and it went rather smoothly (which always makes me happy). We had a BBQ complete with ribs, corn and baked beans on Sat and Anthony was on his best behavior all day. WOOT!
Sunday we went on a family outing and looked at houses, a rare fruit tree sale at the Manatee Civic Center and the Midway flea market. Total bought = a big fat zero! Oh well. Then we went to Nick’s parents for dinner and saw Nick’s godparents so that was fun. Anthony was loved up by everyone and then we headed home for a nice quiet night.
Isn’t it great when weekends are used for something other than working and cleaning

Ok how can you hide a crying child because any parent (or anyone really) knows that you can not hide the sound! And uh..just an opinion here but I think the 3 star status should be removed from this day care so no-one else has to deal with this type of mistreatment.
Tennessee has closed a day care facility after a worker allegedly hid crying infants in a storage room during an unannounced inspection, possibly to disguise inadequate staffing

I wonder if they offer this in other areas of the country. I think they should in all areas that are surrounded by water for FREE. Florida are you listening?!

Now this is definitely a shame. How horrid for the toddler to be dumped by his dad. Seriously drop the kid with a family friend for a break NOT ditching them in what is, essentially a garbage shoot for infants.
Japan’s first anonymous drop box for unwanted babies triggered a wave of anger and soul searching Wednesday after it was discovered that a preschooler  and not an infant  was left by his father on the service’s first day.

So I’ve been attending Baby Bootcamp for about 2 weeks now and am starting to notice some results besides the fact my body is killing me! I’ve noticed some toning here and there and am trying to put a concentrated effort into not eating a lot of junk to counter the good effects.
Class is three times a week on Mon, Wed and Fri for an hour each time. Allison teaches the M and W classes and it consists of floor work, walking w/ lunges (etc) and even some yoga. I find these classes to be difficult but bearable (just). When Kristen teaches class on Friday I feel like I’m going to pass out half way through. I think it is all of the power-walking and trying to keep up with the speed-walkers in the class. I hate being the last in line because I feel like I can’t hack it (honestly it’s because I haven’t been attending as long as the others) but tell that to me when I’m trailing so far behind
I wish I could have attended this class while I was pregnant since its for during and afterwards but I was on bedrest and unable to exercise. If I do get pregnant again and get the cerclage put in with-in the first 3 months (when it should go in) I will definitely try to to attend. I think it is great for a multitude of reasons. You get built in companions and babies for your little one to play with, lots of advice, friendship and of course you get in shape again! Can’t beat that!
I sound like an info-mercial but I really do believe in this type of class format. I love the fact that you can take the baby with you and make friends with other parents in your area. We generally hang out for a bit after class with a coffee and exchange concerns, ideas, etc while the kids play on the floor for a bit. You can attend the first class for free so give it a shot!

Ramblings
Well we had a very busy, but fun mother’s day! Nick got up early and got me flowers and cards from him and Anthony. Very sweet of him!!
Then, Anthony, Nick, my mom and I went out on the boat in the morning and cruised around Sarasota Bay looking at houses. It’s amazing how some of them are really nice and some of them are really ugly and all cost millions. LOL
After that we all headed to Mel’s Diner and had brunch and although the moms’ hearts were set on doughnuts we ate healthy and split a 3-cheese omelet. Then we went back to my house and hung out for a bit so Anthony could catch a nap.
My brother and his crew showed up about a half hour later and hung out some but unfortunately we had to kick everyone out to go to Nick’s mom’s for dinner. I didn’t find out that we were going there until the night before so you’ll excuse me that I had to kick my family out to leave I hope.
Dinner was delicious and all-in-all it was a good day. But boy was I tuckered out after that.
Thanks everyone for making my day special!

Uh…. I’m at a loss for words here…..
A woman in Japan told the landlord of the building she was moving out of that she had “left some stuff there” for him “to get rid of.” He sent in a cleaning crew, expecting the usual discarded household items. What they found instead was the plastic-wrapped remains of six infants.

Uh oh! I let Anthony watch TV for several reasons. We don’t know many babies/young kids so I figure it exposes him to their voices, etc. (Think Noggin people) And also the movement and colors help to entertain him and develop his mind (or so I thought….). Mostly though, we wind up with Food Network on as background noise while we run around and play in the house.
About 90 percent of U.S. children under age 2 and as many as 40 percent of infants under three months are regular watchers of television, DVDs and videos, researchers said on Monday. They said the number of young kids watching TV is much greater than expected.
