From their website:

August 2007
We’ve developed an exciting, and free, program for children ages two, three and four and parents alike living in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama or Tennessee. It’s educational, but it’s also entertaining. We call it Publix Preschool Pals.

Here’s what you get: information to help your children realize their full potential, access to an information-rich Web site, a quarterly newsletter, prizes, cards on their birthdays, a very cool activity book for two-year-olds, and a one-of-a-kind CD ROM when your children turn three. Please note, the Publix Preschool Pals program is offered in English only.

Why is Publix doing this? Well, each of us at Publix cares about children. We care about their health and happiness. And we care about yours as well. Publix Preschool Pals just seemed like the right thing for us to do.

Publix Offers Free Antibiotics

Posted by: cassie  /  Category: Medical, News

Publix, a supermarket down here in the South, will be offering the seven most popular antibiotics FREE to people with prescriptions at all their pharmacies starting today. It sure will be interesting to see how other supermarkets and big-box stores react.

From the Publix press release:

These antibiotics account for almost 50 percent of the generic, pediatric prescriptions filled at Publix. New or current customers simply need to provide their Publix pharmacist with their prescription, up to a 14-day supply, and it will be filled at no charge. Publix is not limiting the number of prescriptions customers may fill for free.

Cost Plus World Market Recalls Speckleware Beverage Containers & Glass Water Tank For Potential Lead Exposure Risk

Posted by: cassie  /  Category: News

Cost Plus World Market, a leading retailer of casual home living and entertaining products, today announced a voluntary recall of the following consumer products: Red, blue, green, and yellow speckleware beverage containers with SKU numbers 370549, 391163, 378321, 378322; and glass water tank retro w/spout with SKU number 378251. These numbers appear on the customer sales receipt. These items are being recalled because the metal spigot used in these containers can leach lead into lemonade and other acidic beverages stored in them. This does not occur if water is used in the beverage containers. No illnesses have been reported to date.

There were approximately 12,592 units sold at Cost Plus/World Market stores nationwide from May 2005 through July 2007 for between $19.98 and $39.99.

According to the FDA, lead is very toxic and dangerous to humans, especially children, women of childbearing age, pregnant women and their unborn children. Although people with lead in their blood often do not exhibit the symptoms of lead toxicity, such symptoms include the following: stomach aches, colic, nausea, vomiting, abnormal irritability, and insomnia. Lead can also permanently damage the central nervous system, resulting in learning difficulties in school children as well as cause other long-term health problems.

Customers who have purchased these beverage containers are urged to return them to any Cost Plus World Market store for a full refund. Consumers who may have questions or concerns should contact Cost Plus Inc. at (877) 967-5362 between 7:00 a.m. and 12:00 a.m. EDT any day or at www.worldmarket.com

Comfy Underwear

Posted by: cassie  /  Category: Gear

undiesToday at BBC one of the girls (who will remain anonymous) mentioned she still loves the Motherhood Maternity thong undies. She wore them throughout her pregnancy and still to this day! In fact she said she will buy these from now on just because they still look hot but you can be comfortable too. If only I had known the comfortability factor of these undies while I was pregnant :( You can count on it that I’ll be buying these the next go-round.
