Recaro announced on Monday, Feb 25, 2008, a recall of its Como and Signo car seats manufactured before December 18, 2007, due to a safety defect that can occur with installation. The car seat harness can detach from the harness connector when a child is placed in or removed from the car seat. This defect means that the child may not be properly strapped into the car seat and could become seriously injured in the case of a vehicle crash.
Recaro is sending a safety repair kit to customers who purchased the recalled car seats. The kit contains two rubber caps and an instruction sheet. The rubber caps will close the gaps that improperly allow the harness to disconnect. The instruction sheet explains how to install the rubber caps, as well as remove them in order to adjust the head restraint (Como car seat only) or remove the car seat cover for washing.
