Pampers Points

Posted by cassie on Saturday, 24 May, 2008 @ 7:59 pm

Diapers are obviously on my mind these days….

I just added my latest Gifts to Grow coupon code to the pampers website and am up to a whopping 69 points! P&G recently did some revamping of this program and I for one am thrilled with the results. They updated the “gifts” that are available to something that is actually useful. For 125 points you can now get a coupon for a package of jumbos and for all those sleepless nights for 100 points you can get a Starbucks gift card. They still have books, some toys and pictures at various point levels also.

Publix Diaper Deals

Posted by cassie on Saturday, 24 May, 2008 @ 3:54 pm

The Publix on State Road 70 and I-75 has their packages of size 3 - 5 diapers on clearance. The big boxes (168 for size 4) are $20.00 and the smaller packages are $10. They are not located in the clearance section of the store but are instead in the baby aisle. Which is why I always go down that aisle even when I don’t need anything - you never know what you’ll find :)

I’ve never tried Publix brand diapers but am strongly tempted to give it a go at these prices. For those of you wondering it’s 8.4 cents a diaper if you buy the size 4 168 ct box.

Diaper Price Hike Coming

This just in from babycheapskate.com! So stock up now if you can…

New Huggies Price Hike this July

I wish I could say this one was a joke, but it’s not.

Kimberly Clark, maker of Huggies, plans to raise prices by six to eight percent some time in late July or early August . Why? KC is recycling the reason they gave seven months ago when they announced this spring’s increase: “significant inflationary pressure from higher raw material and energy costs.” This is a larger increase than we saw earlier this year. Expect per-diaper prices to go up by around two cents, with a net monthly diaper-spending increase of about $5 to $10 per child. I’m guessing we’ll see jumbos go up by another dollar. Will Kimberly-Clark announce record sales and increase forecasted profits this summer, too, as they did this spring? Look for a price increase from Procter & Gamble (Pampers) within the next few weeks. It took them just under a month last time to get the news out.

Interestingly, we’ve seen no shortage of great diaper deals since this spring’s price hike took effect. The families who have been affected most by the hike are those who don’t shop the sales or use coupons. Many of us have been able to offset the increase by honing our smart shopping skills.

This is breaking news, and I wanted to post it ASAP. I’ll be putting together a a more in-depth article as soon as I can go back and track the sales data.

Readers: How has this spring’s diaper price hike affected your family?

The CVS Game

Posted by cassie on Friday, 23 May, 2008 @ 10:00 pm

I’m trying to cut corners where I can, like all people these days I suppose, and am really getting into the CVS concept. I like the thought of getting stuff I use (or can donate) for little to no cost with just some smart shopping involved. Since my *only* job is to be a SAHM (total tongue in cheek here *only* LOL) I figure I can contribute to my household by being a better shopper.

I try to use coupons and shop BJs when I can, and of course use the local grocery store sales for loss-leaders so this is the next step in my continued quest.

One of my main concerns? Where to store all the loot once it starts accruing. I’ve seen some of these people’s stashes (pics only from the web) and frankly a little scared! I don’t have stairs to store stuff under and no basement. Living in FL, I don’t think putting stuff in an un-airconditioned garage would make it last very long. And the builder that built our house was obviously a man since there is hardly any storage - minimal closets, etc.

Still Around!

Posted by cassie on Thursday, 22 May, 2008 @ 10:00 pm

I’ve been doing my CVS research as well as looking into stretch mark solutions and nursing-friendly diets. I want to be prepared!

Essentially I’m just biding my time to see if Vince decides to show up this weekend or not so my feet are up and I’m patiently (or as patiently as a very pregnant woman can be) waiting.

The cerclage was taken out today! I’m excited and just a wee bit scared so wish us luck. I asked the Dr and he said Anthony came 3 days after the cerclage was removed with him….

Baby #2 Has a Name!

Posted by cassie on Monday, 19 May, 2008 @ 7:53 am

It’s been an on-going saga of what to name our second son. You see, we really liked Anthony and obviously used it for our first. A ton of names were tossed out and rejected and the only 2 that remained on the table for the entire name-picking duration were Carmine and Vincent. It was an equal split of 50-50 and nothing really worked at picking the name.

I tried my mom’s trick of yelling it outside at the top of my lungs - they both sounded good. Let’s face it we all know I’ll be yelling it a lot so it’s a good test. REALLY, just try it. I tried asking the baby what he thought and didn’t get any more responses in kicks, rolls or anything one way or the other so he didn’t seem to mind either name. I asked everyone I know and it was split so what was left to do? Nick hit on the brilliant idea of asking Anthony! So about two weeks ago we asked Anthony which name he wanted to use for his baby brother and he picked it! It was the cutest thing ever - he sat and considered it for like 2 seconds and then said *very clearly* Vince. Nick asked him a few more times just to make sure and each time he said Vince. So Vincent Christopher it will be! It is officially official, or will be once he is born and it’s on his birth certificate.
