Units: About 20,000

Manufacturer: Simmons Kids, a division of The Simmons Manufacturing Co., LLC of Atlanta, Ga.

Timi & Leslie Backpack Diaper Bags

Posted by: cassie  /  Category: Gear, Sales, Coupons & Contests

I got them! I got them! Ok so I’m dancing around with glee over a few diaper bags. And for those of you that know me in RL you aren’t surprised. I LOVE bags – it used to be handbags but now it’s been transfered. They don’t have to be expensive (although I do covet a few Mia Bossi’s and some others) but they have to be cute and functional. Even if the function hasn’t been discovered yet. I’ll get there eventually :D Does anyone else hear a groan in the background from my darling fiance?

So anywho…back to those backpacks! I got them today in the mail and boy are they super duper cute! The two patterns I picked are the Mia (green oriental print) and Edie (pink and red circle pattern). I was a tad worried since they have a vinyl coating for wash-ability sake that I wouldn’t like it or it would be too shiny. Nope! They have several interior pockets and came with a matching changing pad. I *thought* they came with a matching zipper pouch too but mine didn’t. (Cust service is checking into that for me and I’ll let ya’ll know) They seem rather roomy and like this will be great for day trips.

I’ll pack one up tomorrow, take some RL photos and list everything out I could stuff in there.

Timi & Leslie MiaNow I’m waiting on the T&L totes (ordered several days ago) and the T&L Large diaper bags (Mia pictured at left) that I ordered today. Oh and BTW if anyone is wondering at the prices – $37.20 for the large diaper bag. That’s 75% off the retail price of $150.00!

Boy do I hope Nick isn’t reading this stuff!! I really don’t know what I’ll need with a newborn and toddler and at these prices I can’t pass it up. At the very least I’ll pass them on to girlfriends for presents or save them for my nieces that are currently prego.

If anyone is wondering where I am getting these fantastic deals – www.mamabargains.com. Be sure to check them out. I just wish they’d include a promo code for me so I can save even more $$. And if they have something you think I can’t live without – email me. That’s right – feed my addiction ;)

Cheap Entertainment

Posted by: cassie  /  Category: Things to Do, Tips, Hints & Other Stuff

With Vince due any day now – 38 weeks and counting!! – I’ve been trying to pick up little things here and there to entertain Anthony when the time comes. Not only when Granny is watching him when Daddy and I are at the hospital but the all important week or two after we come home and Mommy needs to rest.

Here’s what I’ve got so far – PLEASE feel free to chime in with other ideas:

  • Books and activity books from Goodwill
  • Movies from half.com and GameStop. Titles include: various Winnie the Pooh, Tigger the Movie, Brother Bear, and Charlotte’s Web. I also have some Sesame Street movies he hasn’t watched yet (OT: But GameStop has Buy 2, Get 3 Free on movies right now. Good deal if you ask me)
  • New-to-him (Goodwill purchase) train set and track
  • Put-it-together wooden airplane from Aunt Kat at xmas

Comment below – What other forms of entertainment do you think will make him happy for awhile? Keep in mind we live in FL and it’s already in the low 90s so outside activities are rather limited.

Winn Dixie Diaper Close-Out

Posted by: cassie  /  Category: Gear, Sales, Coupons & Contests

I stopped in Winn-Dixie on Fruitville Rd today and they had the Mega packs of Luvs on close out for $5.99, Pampers Cruisers size 7 (18 in pack) on close out for $5.99, Pampers Boys 3T-4T Feel n’ Learns for $5.99 and Pampers Swimmers size 3-5 for $5.99.

So if you have some spare time, money and coupons head on over to your local WD and see what you can find!

Also, don’t forget to check out CVS for Pampers diapers, especially if you have a CVS card. They are on sale this week for $7.99 and if you purchase $20 worth (before coupons) you get $5 back in ECBs. Rumor has it that next week the same deal will apply but with Huggies instead.

Uses for Cupcake Liners

Posted by: cassie  /  Category: Tips, Hints & Other Stuff

If this woman is not ingenious I don’t know who is! Check out this great post from Thrifty Florida Mama on uses for a cupcake liner. My favorites are below and I’ll put those into practice for Anthony’s second birthday party, especially the ice cream :P

1. I like to bake brownies in cupcake liners. Before I started doing this we ended up with brownie crumbs everywhere in our house. These smushed dark blobs are not fun to get out of carpet! So I started baking my brownies in the liners. We have almost zero brownie mess now and the bonus for us is that there are no edge pieces. I know there are many people who only want the edge pieces, but not us. We are inside pieces people. It is nice to send brownies to classroom parties in these liners too because they are easier to hand out to kids.

2. I use cupcake liners to serve ice cream at my kids’ birthday parties. I just scoop out the ice cream a couple of hours before the party, stick them on a cookie sheet and put back into the freezer. When it is cake and ice cream time I pull out the tray and put the liner full of ice cream on the kids’ plates. This means that the melting ice cream doesn’t touch the cake on the plate either; a cardinal sin for some kids!

Finger Painting

Posted by: cassie  /  Category: Arts & Crafts for Toddlers, Things to Do

Several weeks ago we decided to try finger painting. Now this is a big to-do in my house since Anthony is very anti-anything touching him. He hates dirt, tells me he has dirt on his hands if he uses his fingers to eat with, etc. So how did it go? NOT so well!

He was terribly excited. Loved putting on the smock and getting the colors all set up. Yes, before you ask it’s washable finger paint – I’m not completely nuts. We put out our newspaper on the kitchen table and set up our paper. And then! OOOO No!!! He had to touch it. Yea…..

Fast forward to last week. He keeps seeing the paints sitting on my desk and goes bonkers over it. Apparently forgetting he didn’t want it touching him last time… So we try it again. We get out everything, get it all set up and then! inspiration struck! I remembered that I had different size paint brushes from when I painted the decorations for his room. Phew! I got out of another tantrum on that. He had a blast with the paints and used several different brushes. He even let me help him, which we all know is a feat for a 21 mo old. They, apparently, can do everything by themselves, or at least they think so!

So, if you have a kid like mine or want to minimize messy fingers – grab some paint brushes and let them have a hey day! It’s a good activity to while away the summer hours (or at least an hour) and you have artwork you can then use to send to grandparents, other loved ones, use for wrapping paper, display, etc. This may become a weekly activity in my house. Now I just need to find a large roll of paper…..

Diaper Bag for Toddler & Newborn

Posted by: cassie  /  Category: Gear, Ramblings

Just when I was finally getting used to carrying a smaller diaper bag, I now have to go to a LARGER one. Figures, right? Amazingly enough it is like finding a needle in a haystack or so far it has been for me. I know it needs to be larger since I’ll have twice the amt of stuff including a change of clothes for the newborn and a shirt for myself, plus the additional diapers, etc. It also has to not be a cavernous bag that you would fall into and lose yourself. Notice the dilemma! Also, I’ve noticed in my search that a lot of bags have black interiors. I’m sure it’s to show less dirt but imagine hunting through that for your stuff with 2 kids in tow. Ick!

So in the name of organization I bought two sets of Sugar Booger Clean/Dirty bags to help with the clothing issue (especially since we are beginning potty training with our toddler) and I carry a small wristlet for my personal items such as DL, credit cards, etc. My cell I keep in my pocket and my keys go in an outside pocket on the bag.

What I’ll be carrying:
- 2 chic carry wristlets for diapers
- tons of snacks (toddler needs options)
- sippy (sometimes 2)
- my stuff – keys, cell & wristlet
- Sugar Booger Dirty & Clean Bags w/ changes of clothes
- spit up rag
- blanket

Any suggestions on what to get? I’d like it to be able to hang over the back of my stroller (P&T Sport) and not be too bulky even when stuffed to the gills. I’ve also thought about having 2 bags – one that stays in the car and the other for “every day” use. The only thing with that, is how do you decide what stays and what goes?
