Book Swapping at it’s Finest

Posted by cassie on Monday, 14 July, 2008 @ 9:37 am

I recently joined this cool website that allows you to list the books that you have available - paperback and hardcover - and then other members can “order” them from you. The only cost out of pocket is the postage to send the books to the members. Once the book is received by them, they mark it so and you get 1 credit. The credits allow you to order your own books. You can even place books on your wish list that allows you first dibs when it gets listed by another member. I’ve sent out about 15 books so far (including 5 that are going out today lol). This worked really well for when I hit the 3rd trimester and couldn’t do as much, so I’d prop my feet up and read :) If you do sign up please use my email address (cassie (@) nouturn dot com - no spaces) as a referral so I get 1 credit!

Baby Monitor

Posted by cassie on Wednesday, 9 July, 2008 @ 9:57 pm

Horrors! Imagine it - you walk into your room, flip on the monitor and check the video only to see a black screen! You know it’s working because you hear your darling gossiping with himself but can’t see his cute-as-a-button face. That happened to me last night. I never realized how much I LOVED the video option on my Summer Infant handheld video monitor until I didn’t have it. Luckily I bought the TV monitor version of it at Thanksgiving when they had them at Big Lots for $40. Yes, it was supposed to be setup for #2 but yea… Unfortunately it screws up the sound - or maybe I just don’t know what I’m doing so I have the handheld going for sound and the TV for sight. I guess I can’t complain since I bought the handheld unit used 2 years ago but dang it! Now I have to go hunting for another one.

Wish me luck.

Coupons to your Cell Phone

Posted by cassie on Friday, 4 July, 2008 @ 10:42 pm

Slightly off topic but since a lot of parents use coupons to stretch their budget, especially now I thought I’d pass this along.

I recently came across a website for the coupon-aholics amongst us. You can now get coupons delivered to your cell phones via text messages (applicable fees will apply of course). Just show the coupon to your check out clerk and they’ll enter in the appropriate code. You can text them to stop the service at any time. For all intents and purposes it is free, just texting fees apply it seems.

Happy July 4th!

The title says it all. Have a safe and fun holiday. We’ll be spending the day relaxing with the boys at home since it is god awful hot out and neither of them do well in the heat.

Cloth Diapering

Posted by cassie on Wednesday, 2 July, 2008 @ 10:09 am

I’ve been considering using cloth diapers to see if that would assist with the wetting the bed issue we are still having. In particular I’m interested in using AIOs and possibly a cover for them just to make it a little harder to access.Preferably not terribly expensive either since this is a long shot and total trial run for me using cloth and seeing if they help at all in our situation.

Does anyone have any suggestions for the best diaper and cover?
