Eneloop Rechargable Batteries

Posted by cassie on Tuesday, 19 August, 2008 @ 2:25 pm

rechargable-batteriesI’ve been on a quest recently to find rechargable batteries. Not only does it kill me to always be buying the little buggers for almost every toy we own. Ya know the $$ but also the environmental impact! We do not have a place locally to recycle regular batteries (if they are even recyclable….not sure on that one.) so they wind up getting tossed in the trash. I’ve recently come across batteries made by Sanyo that are AA and AAA, with adapters for the C and Ds! While most of our toys require AA batteries, Vincent’s swings use C and D batteries so why not get re-chargable ones. Check out their website for more info or go directly to Amazon.com! The rave reviews on Amazon’s site is the final icing on the cake for me. ;) I’ll post a review on them after I receive them.

Birthday Party Favor Bags

Posted by cassie on Thursday, 14 August, 2008 @ 1:15 pm

Ok so I had to do birthday favor bags for Anthony’s 2nd birthday. But only because my girlfriend reminded me. Duh! Thanks Jody!!

I took advantage of the sales they’ve had recently and spent about $5 per “bag”. Yes, that is a steep price but since I only had to make 4 of them (one being Anthony’s) I was ok with doing it. So now you are dying to know what is in them aren’t you??

Well…..first I didn’t use a bag. Why be wasteful, right? Instead I bought pencil cases at Target a couple of weeks ago - blue for the boys and pink for the girls. I then wrote their name on the top of the box so they feel super special. My mom had the brilliant idea of using a sharpie instead of painting it on, which was my first thought. Thanks mom! Thank god for other people and their brains ;)

So now the filler:

  • a box of Crayola crayons for 22 cents
  • a box of primary colored modeling clay for $1
  • 2-3 sheets of stickers ($1 per package but some packages had 2 in there and were broken up)
  • a box of Crayola colored pencils for 88 cents
  • a package of Crayola model magic (bought a package of 6 for 6.99 and had 2 left over for Ant to play with)

If Anthony is any judge than the other kids will love it! And for the icing on the cake, they’ll get to take a balloon home too.

Perfect for Chunky Feet

By Blogginmomma.com from Bradenton, FL on 8/13/2008

4out of 5

Sizing: Feels true to size

Width: Feels true to width

Pros: Comfortable

Best Uses: Going Out, Everyday Wear

Describe Yourself: Casual

I bought the light colored ones and unfortunately they are borderline too small for my darling but that is only because of the size I ordered, not the products fault. I like that you can adjust the fit for their feet with the velcro strap over the foot itself and the back strap around their ankle. These work really well for chunky feet! The pink interior seem a little girly to me for a boy but that is a minor complaint since their foot basically covers it.

Cool Toy

Pros: Durable, Good Value

We bought the toy at the clearance price so the little quirks it has are ok for the price I paid. Had I paid full price I wouldn’t be nearly as satisfied. The concept of the toolbox is great and my 2 yr old loves playing with it. The tools are very realistic and are a big hit, especially the hammer and flashlight. My complaint: I wish that the drawers had a “stop” on them that stops them from flying out onto the floor and creating a mess, not to mention the hazard of hitting little feet.

Regent’s Secret is having a PPB sale starting 7.28.08! Woo-hoo!! While checking my email I learned about this sale from one of my yahoo bag boards. Gotta love those women, they are ON it!

It’s on www.regentssecret.com - it’s a members only site - you have to have a referral to join. There’s no weird catch or anything. Basically members get reward points for the people the refer. Anywho, it’s legit and they have Petunia Pickle Bottom bags on sale until 7.30.08. To join please use my referral info so I can get credit, which is funktea _ 420 @hotmail . com (no spaces).

Info about PPB from their site: “Born out of a desire to bring style and sophistication to the world of modern parenting, Petunia Pickle Bottom was founded in 2000 by a trio of people who pay homage to the chic mommy who makes a statement without saying a word. Plucking the name from childhood (the head designer’s father coined the phrase when she was a little one) Petunia Pickle Bottom has become more than a silly sentimental name, it has become the brand to have.

A perennial exhibit of bold lines, daring colors and darling designer details, Petunia Pickle Bottom was created for the steadfast sophisticate inside every woman. Silk brocades, hand-woven tweeds, plush chenilles, intricate cut velvets, and exquisitely detailed embroidery—every one a Petunia hallmark, and every one an expression of motherhood’s myriad facets.”

Kelty Journey Sale

Posted by cassie on Sunday, 20 July, 2008 @ 9:39 am

keltyjourneyI was browsing a bag site this morning for no other reason than they are having their annual Summer 20% off sale (use coupon code Summer2008) and well, I LOVE bags. I came across the Kelty Journey in the sales section and thought I’d pass the deal onto my readers. I’m not really big into carting the baby around on my back to go hiking or out and about - I’d rather use the AT stroller but I have several friends that do. They rave over their Keltys.

This one is on sale for $155.45 + free shipping. Check it out here.

Baby Monitor

Horrors! Imagine it - you walk into your room, flip on the monitor and check the video only to see a black screen! You know it’s working because you hear your darling gossiping with himself but can’t see his cute-as-a-button face. That happened to me last night. I never realized how much I LOVED the video option on my Summer Infant handheld video monitor until I didn’t have it. Luckily I bought the TV monitor version of it at Thanksgiving when they had them at Big Lots for $40. Yes, it was supposed to be setup for #2 but yea… Unfortunately it screws up the sound - or maybe I just don’t know what I’m doing so I have the handheld going for sound and the TV for sight. I guess I can’t complain since I bought the handheld unit used 2 years ago but dang it! Now I have to go hunting for another one.

Wish me luck.

Cloth Diapering

Posted by cassie on Wednesday, 2 July, 2008 @ 10:09 am

I’ve been considering using cloth diapers to see if that would assist with the wetting the bed issue we are still having. In particular I’m interested in using AIOs and possibly a cover for them just to make it a little harder to access.Preferably not terribly expensive either since this is a long shot and total trial run for me using cloth and seeing if they help at all in our situation.

Does anyone have any suggestions for the best diaper and cover?
