32 Wk UltraSound

Posted by: cassie  /  Category: Medical, Ramblings

So I went in for my ultrasound yesterday to make sure the cerclage is holding strong and that Vince is not having any problems hanging out in there. Imagine my surprise when the technician told me my kid is a chunky butt! Ok, so he was waaay to polite to even say something of that nature but he did tell me that Vince is already weighing in over 5 lbs!!!! No wonder I have absolutely no space left in there! Tony, the tech, said if I carry to full term expect to have a baby weighing in at 9-10 lbs! Holy cow. Literally. Anthony (my first) weighed 7 lb 5 oz when he was born and it was a difficult delivery since his head was just a smidge too big so I can’t imagine how Vince is going to fit. That thought leads me into the horrors of imagining a c-section.

Don’t get me wrong I find nothing wrong with a c-section and if that is what is best for the both of us, by all means! Anthony almost turned into a c-section so I’m not one of those women that feel I must give birth vaginally. I’m just worried that it will make healing harder and make Anthony feel even more displaced because I won’t be able to pick him up and do anything I would normally.

Excuse me while I go back to my corner and continue whimpering.

Review: Parents of Multiples Garage Sale

Posted by: cassie  /  Category: Ramblings, Sales, Coupons & Contests

Today was the Parents of Multiples of Sarasota annual garage sale, and imagine that but Jody and I just *had* to go. Turns out it was a great score all the way around for both of us so I’m definitely glad we went!

babycityjoggerbusyboxI picked up an almost brand-new Baby Jogger City Series Double stroller for $200 and a Thomas the Train remote control train-set for Anthony for $5.  Jody found this amazing busy box for $2 whole dollars that is normally $90!! We also each bought a pair of arm swimmies for 25 cents each and I bought a pair of water shoes for Anthony for $2. Overall not a bad cache of stuff if I do say so.

There were a lot of clothes, some toys and household items, and various types of gear (strollers, car seats, walkers, etc.). There was even coffee and donuts for sale. Best of all the women hosting the sale were very helpful and went the extra mile to make the sale for sure! (One even went online and looked up my bank location so I could buy the stroller in cash. How is that for customer service!!) The icing on the cake?! They had a safety technician there that would check your car seats for $15 to make sure you were safe and had them installed correctly.

I think some of their prices were over the top and that the location was horrible since I almost got lost getting there with a nav system and the parking was cramped but I will most definitely go again next year!

Baby Registry for Vince

Posted by: cassie  /  Category: Getting Ready for Baby, Ramblings

Ok so I’ve finally done it! I sent out the invitations for the baby shower yesterday and finalized the baby registry at BabiesRUs today. The only thing I couldn’t add to the registries at BRU or Rightstart was the Lamaze Dream Screen since neither store carries it. Bummer :( However; I cheated and also created a registry at Target (mainly so I can continue getting their baby coupon booklets and the extra 10% off items on the registry) and they do carry it!

I’m really hoping people look at the registries and don’t just buy clothes since we have a ton that I kept from Anthony. I know how hard it is to resist those cute little outfits but puh-leeze do! If you are undecided on what to purchase – gift cards, Pampers diapers and wipes are always appreciated!

31 Weeks This Week!

Posted by: cassie  /  Category: Medical, Ramblings

We are almost there THANK GOD!! So it’s partially me hoping and partially true but let a prego woman have her dreams people! Especially since I feel like a beached whale and am having horrid heart burn again. I would say Vincent (still deciding on the name) is extremely healthy and happy in his little world. Sitting still is a novelty for him and made Anthony look like he never moved.

This week, your baby measures over 16 inches long. He weighs about 3.3 pounds (try carrying four navel oranges) and is heading into a growth spurt. He can turn his head from side to side, and his arms, legs, and body are beginning to plump out as needed fat accumulates underneath his skin. He’s probably moving a lot, too, so you may have trouble sleeping because your baby’s kicks and somersaults keep you up. Take comfort: All this moving is a sign that your baby is active and healthy.

Baby #2 Update

Posted by: cassie  /  Category: Ramblings

Well a lot has happened for our second child (a boy in case you’ve missed it). We have a crib now and he’ll get Anthony’s old dresser since it’s smaller. Unfortunately he won’t get his own room; he’ll be bunking in mommy and daddy’s room for now but that’s ok. I won’t have to walk far for midnight feedings. Once we figure out which wall to put him on Papa is going to make him a giant train wall-hanging with a cloud of smoke coming out for his name.

And most importantly! We’ve tentatively selected a name, which is Vincent. We’ll call him Vince for short. My brother will be the Godfather and I think Vincent Christopher has a nice ring to it.

The baby shower, really more of a celebration than anything, is scheduled for May 4th and I’m sending out invites tomorrow. Or as soon as I make it to buy stamps anyway. I’ve planned the menu and am working on conning my mom into making the cake and have even tentatively picked out my outfit! Yes, I’m anal folks. The nesting has hit and the couple of things I want done around the house I am getting done next week or the following so I’m feeling in pretty darn good shape.

I still have the go ahead from the Dr to keep up my daily routine with no bed rest in sight (serious knocking on wood occurring) and will start visiting him weekly soon. I’m dreading delivery but at the same time really excited to see our latest edition. All-in-all I feel like I’m pulling it all together so hopefully it continues.

Weekend Fun

Posted by: cassie  /  Category: Ramblings

We’ve had a nice, family-fun weekend and I’m glad it’s over :) I’m exhausted and sun burned and could use some sleep. Yesterday we spent the day together blowing bubbles while daddy cleaned the pool and then granny came over for awhile and helped me do yard work (I’m on light duty so I can’t really do much) and then had dinner with us. Nick made pizza so I was off of dinner duty!

Then today started out not so good with waking up at 6:30a but wound up being nice. Nick went fishing so Anthony and I went grocery shopping this morning and then met his Aunt Kat at the beach and hung out for a bit. Nick met us over there and we had a nice time. Fish dinner for us tonight since he actually caught some fish that were keepers! It’s now 8:14p and I’m waiting for my darling to fall asleep but he seems rather revved up and is rolling around his crib. Since he slept for a whopping 40 min total today (20 min two separate times) you would think he would be willing to crash but I think the kid has his second wind and can’t calm down enough to sleep. I guess my belly is too big now since he no longer wants to cuddle with me at night anymore :(

Can’t Sleep

Posted by: cassie  /  Category: Ramblings

So being 7 months pregnant is a b*tch. I’m up at 5:35a trying to be quiet so I’m typing in my blog because I can’t sleep. I tried! I really did. It was going fine until Nick came to bed about an hour ago and no matter how stealthy he tries to be – I hear him. I guess it’s mommy hearing for the win :( Needless to say today Anthony better be a wonderful little kid because a mommy short on sleep will snap quickly. I’m going to try to take a nap with him later and get some shut-eye if I can.

Since I have boo-coo time on the computer that I normally don’t get I’ll try to rustle up some deals, tips and other fun stuff for y’all to read when you get up at normal people time.

Staten Island Teen Vindicated

Posted by: cassie  /  Category: Ramblings

The asshole that killed my nephew has officially been termed guilty!! I’ve tried hard not to write about this because I know how things get about on the net and didn’t want to influence anything with my ramblings BUT I am so glad this is the official decision! There is a lot of hearsay and whatnot involved, as there is with any murder and luckily the jury saw through it and the roadblocks thrown in their path. I hope this guy rots in jail for the full term and then some.

Read the news report here.

RIP Robbie. We love you always!

19 Months Old

Anthony-19 moAnthony is 19 months old today! I can’t believe how time is flying along. I look back at pictures of him along the way and it is soo much fun to see how he has changed and developed. A great tip – take pictures on each of his/her monthly “birthdays” to see what I am seeing with your own kids! Just make sure you label your pictures for your archives.

Decorating a Kid’s Bathroom

Posted by: cassie  /  Category: Ramblings

My guest bathroom is also Anthony’s bathroom and I’ve tried hard to resist my initial urge to go “kiddie” with it. Why? For no other reason than I have one foot out the door on this house and am just waiting on the market to get a bit better before we put up a for sale sign and move on out. It’s a whole other story but basically we’ve outgrown this place and just need a bigger house, especially with baby #2 coming fast!
